After installing in Vista and starting a new game, there were no voices for the two guys talking in the intro movie. I installed 1.3 patch but the game then failed to launch, with this message :-
"This application has failed to start because d3dx9_39.dll was not found."
I played the demo no problem before buying the game. Can anyone please tell me how to fix this problem.
SOLUTION:- Thanks to pcsupport.about.com for pointing me in the right direction. I had presumed my Vista machine had an up-to-date version of dx9. Wrong! I followed pcsupport's advice and did not download the individual component, but went to Microsoft for the whole thing. The game now works and I don't have to mess with the EAX settings for sound problems (which is one of the things the patch is supposed to do, so I know it's working).  |
