This is perhaps the best, unknow game i have ever played.

(SOrry i hope i didnt insult anyone thinking that Shade wasnt a big-scaled project, i apologize)

I wonder why so few people play it? Its such an awsome game, after i beat it it's still fun to beat it again..again...again... Razz

Hello! Just created this acount so i'm new in this forum.

I've just finished Shade after countless hours. I will try to wright a review here, never written one before..

First of all I have to count with the low-budget of this game..

This game had potensial. The dark atmosphere and the lightsword as the only light in some places ..COOL.., the mystery of a whole new world never been told about before and some high quality fantasy about some angelhearts.

The game had some bugs but were not infected and surronded by them witch was a relief..

The game was long and you need several days to make it all the way, nice.. nice
In many games you start with a gun and as you make your way through the game you get more powerfull by getting new stuff like rifles and bombs.. in Shade ..NO.. you start with your lightsword and your deamonpowers. Really great in my opinion, the game was not to easy in any stage and never to hard eather..

The big disapointment, THE MOVEMENT AND COMBATSYSTEM.. This were the worst solution i've seen in a game in all my life, it's totally stupid.
Starting with the movement, The idéa of scrolling your movementspeed started out as kinda ok.. But after the several maps it was so annoying what I considered to blow the game all over my room to my halffull trashcan. I felt down and died so many times in the game becouse of small places that i were suppost to jump over edges and cliffs and didn't scroll the right speed..

Not to mention the combatsystem, it's so slow that i think my old gradma would slash a sword faster, it feels kinda ok in deamonmode but as human it was way to slow. If you want to switch a weapon you need to make it to some menu to do that, grrrr..

About the voice actors.. The angel that allways comes with the words of advice is nice, feels spiritual, mystic and all that.. But our hero? Is it just me or is it the same actor as in Duke Nukem 3D??? what the hell is a voice like that doing in the game?.. Feels so recorded like he didn't know his voice would be a hero in the mystic game Shade or if it was ment for a badguy in some asian anime-movie.

Have i forgot something? I don't know.. anyway it's a cool game that got me gripped, if I have found the movement, combatsystem and the Duke Nukem actor comfortable it would have been a toprate!

Hello Olle,
at first - thanks for your opinion. I must agree that the movement (jumping especially) is the worst thing on the game ever. We know it now. Wink

The combat system was improved in the patch 1.2. It is faster and more controllable. There is no complex combat system like and japanese combat games, but we can do nothing with it now. Maybe next time. Wink
